Sally Buchanan is 89 years old and lives alone in Mission, B.C.. Like many seniors living on their own, Sally doesn’t have a lot of visitors. Sally started attending Active Aging exercise classes a few months ago and it's provided her with life-saving connections.

Rose wants to be the first Indigenous prime minister—and she’s on the right path thanks to a United Way program

Nuhaa

When Nuhaa first arrive din Canada as refugee and started school in Surrey, she was scared that no-one would want to be her friend. Thanks to a United Way School's Out program she's feeling more comfortable in her new home.

Timothy

After-school programs provided Timothy with a positive place to be when he was growing up. He's now considering a career in coaching and working with kids as a direct result of his work at United Way’s Ray-Cam Program.

Jayce

When Jayce’s kids fell behind in reading, a United Way program helped them improve their skills—and their confidence.

George

After a lifetime of hard work and purpose, George found himself retired and on a fixed income. While George is able to get by financially, he found himself isolated. For George, the life-saving connection happened when a neighbour at his housing complex told him about a United Way Active Aging Program at Burnaby Neighbourhood House.

Emily

After moving out of her family home, Emily struggled to manage school and life.

Ashley

When youth age out of care, they are instantly expected to care for themselves and lose support from their foster parents, social workers and government programs. Because of the Youth Futures Education Fund, Ashley is getting the help she needs to reach her post-secondary goals.

Mavrik – Sticks and Stars

Mavrik attends a unique United Way School's Out after-school program that fosters belonging, curiosity and teamwork.

Nat

Nat is a regular participant in a United Way-funded Daddy and Me program, accessing supports specifically geared towards fathers.
