What makes people happy? Being social. And giving. It’s a pretty simple formula as presented by author of the book Happy City and urban experimentalist Charles Montgomery at the RevUp event held yesterday. A room of over 250 enthusiastic volunteers comprised of United Way Board of Directors, Campaign Cabinet, Employee Campaign Chairs, and Campaign Associates took part in a networking and training event. “Generosity is the fuel for personal happiness,” said Montgomery to the packed house. We are wired to be good – there is a hormonal response that makes us feel better when we help others. Montgomery implored people to rebuild a culture of trust and empathy. Special thanks to supporting sponsor The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver and Leadership Sponsor, The University of British Columbia. Together, we can make the impossible possible.
