Volunteers from Target Canada got paid in dough – plus had a laugh – at a volunteer event held at Deltassist Family and Community Services Society facilitated through The Vancouver Sun United Way Day of Caring.Target Canada is a generous supporter of United Way British Columbia. The bread that volunteers helped sort is donated by a local bakery to Deltassist. Deltassist then distributes the bread to seniors’ complexes, libraries, churches, ministry offices, employment offices, and alternative school programs. A supply of bread is kept at Deltassist to give to clients throughout the week. United Way-supported Deltassist is a non-profit organization dedicated to the well-being of the people of Delta operating from locations in North Delta, Ladner, and Tsawwassen. Deltassist has been caring for Delta since 1972. The Vancouver Sun United Way Day of Caring brings together United Way’s funded agency partners together with United Way donors to provide meaningful volunteer opportunities. Last year, United Way facilitated 81 volunteer events. The partnership has been in place since 2003.
