On November 25, union counsellors, labour council delegates and labour activists came together for the 24th Union Counsellors’ Breakfast, hosted by United Way British Columbia at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. The guests, who were also attendees at the biennial BC Federation of Labour Convention, learned about upcoming events and training opportunities offered by the CLC United Way Union Counselling Program. This prevention-based program, a cornerstone of the Labour and United Way partnership, is designed to help union members in the workplace. The event was emceed by Steve Hunt, Chair of the Board of Directors for United Way British Columbia and Director, District 3 for the United Steelworkers Union. Highlights included keynote speaker Jeannie Kilby, President of CUPE Local 402. Irene Lanzinger, BC Federation of Labour, and George Davison, Federation of Post-Secondary Educators, were also recognized for their contributions as 2014/15 United Way Campaign Labour Committee Co-Chairs.
