The Clearwater & area Success By 6 initiative has received a grant of $137,300 to help build a splash park for children and families. The funding was announced last week by Cathy McLeod, MP for Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo and is part of ‘Canada 150,’ a federal program that supports infrastructure projects in communities as a way of marking the 150th anniversary of Canada’s confederation. Success By 6 in Clearwater is managed by Heather Adamson through Yellowhead Community Services. “This project has been a wonderful example of the strong community partnerships that Success By 6 has built to address program, service and infrastructure needs in our community,” said Heather Adamson, “We are very fortunate to have such a strong partnership with the District of Clearwater who has provided the land, water and sewer for this project.” Clearwater Mayor John Harwood spoke to the crowd when the funding was announced last week beginning with a quote from Mr. Rogers, “It’s a wonderful day in the neighborhood!” he exclaimed. “Clearwater is a community that is known for its lifestyle options, including our recreation opportunities. The Splash Park will be an exciting addition to the community and will go a long way in attracting and keeping young families.” Work will start on the splash park in the spring of 2016. It will be located in Clearwater’s Weyerhaeuser Pioneer Park. Success By 6 BC is a partnership of United Ways, Credit Unions of BC, the BC Government through the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) and Aboriginal and community leaders. The partnership is dedicated to providing all children with a good start in life.
