United Way British Columbia was proud to present Rudy Kerklaan with the 2015 Joseph and Rosalie Segal United Way Community Vision Award last night at the Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver. This honour is given to an individual or family for their commitment to the betterment of the community through leadership and support of United Way. The annual award was first established by Joseph and Rosalie Segal in 2011 to celebrate inspirational philanthropic leaders. Rudy, Founding Partner of Connor, Clark & Lunn Investment Management, has been a volunteer with United Way since 1997 and a donor since 1995. He has held numerous volunteer roles with United Way, from Account Executive to Board Member. Rudy and his family—all longstanding supporters of United Way—were there to celebrate with him. The evening saw many special guests, including former BC Premier Mike Harcourt, Mayor of Port Coquitlam Greg Moore and Acting Mayor of Coquitlam Terry O’Neill. “I think Joseph Segal expressed it best when he recently said, ‘People usually give of their time or their money—Rudy does both.’ With the tremendous generosity of people like Rudy, United Way is changing lives and communities. We can’t thank Rudy and the Segals enough for their support, Children, families and seniors in the Lower Mainland are facing brighter futures because of donors like them,” said Michael McKnight, President & CEO, United Way British Columbia. The event thanks and recognizes our most generous donors, collectively raising almost $5 million annually. The Pathfinders event was presented by PwC, a United Way Top Contributor and supporter for more than 20 years. Randene Neill, Anchor of the Weekend News Hour for Global BC, graciously emceed the event.
