Labour leadership, Campaign Associates, CLC Labour Participation Department staff and community leaders came together at the Labour Campaign Breakfast earlier this month to kick off the 2015 United Way campaign in unionized workplaces. Guest speaker was Walter Gerlach, Directing Business Representative, International of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, Northwest District 250, and Labour Co-Chair of the Waterfront United initiative. Waterfront United unites employers and unions on Metro Vancouver’s waterfront to work together for the greater good to move children from poverty to possibility, help kids be all they can be, and build strong communities for all. The event also welcomed and introduced six Labour Campaign Associates, who will help build on the strength of the Labour and United Way. They are part of a team of 37 Campaign Associates that are working with United Way this fall. The 2015 Labour Campaign Associates are:
- Nick Angrignon – Corporation of Delta & CUPE Local 454
- Trevor Morgan – City of Burnaby & CUPE Local 23
- Christopher Miller – Kwantlen Polytechnic University and BCGEU Local 704
- Rob Munro – IBEW Local 258
- Ryan Petrin – City of Vancouver & CUPE 1004
- Susan Saint – Kwantlen Polytechnic University and KFA (FPSE Local 5)
Here in the Lower Mainland, United Way and Labour have worked together to change lives for the better for more than 30 years.
