Given Spectra Energy’s interest and history in supporting health and human services and well as programs that contribute to their community enhancement, we were so blessed to have team of volunteers on Thursday June 12th. Through Spectra’s contributions, our Food For Families Program was able to purchase proteins and serve additional wholesome and nutritious items to 85 families in attendance at our food bank as a result of the generous donation received. CityReach Care Society was founded in 2004 and offers a range of programs and activities. With our mission being to help people prosper, we enable children, youth, woman and families to develop and grow both as individuals and as a community. Hunger is a harsh reality. Social inequality and a host of other adversities put the underprivileged members of our community at a huge disadvantage; to the point that their basic needs are not met, such as shelter and food. We aim to be a light of hope to those with a need. Relying on a food bank for sustenance can be both humbling and degrading to some; however, we strongly believe that programs such as Food for Families are a critical element in the crusade against poverty and hunger. Thank you to those who helped assemble our Poncho Paks for the homeless, to those who sorted clothing for the CityReach Community Closet and for those who bagged peppers, wrapped cheese and served yogurt! We were honored to have been involved in The Vancouver Sun United Way Day of Caring program with you.  We look forward to collaborating with Spectra Energy in the future.
