Pacific Blue Cross presents 21st Annual Labour Appreciation Night, Dec. 4

The 21st Annual Labour Appreciation Night, hosted by United Way British Columbia, the Vancouver and District Labour Council and the New Westminster and District Labour Council, will take place on Wednesday, December 4. The event, which is sponsored by Pacific Blue Cross, acknowledges the many contributions that Sisters and Brothers have made to the community. “It’s important to honour the people who engage and lead in community service,” says Jan K. Grude, President and CEO of Pacific Blue Cross. “They are leaders in the Labour movement who work tirelessly to strengthen our communities and our unions and, in so doing, inspire others to do the same. Pacific Blue Cross is proud to sponsor Labour Appreciation Night in recognition of these outstanding individuals.” Grude will be giving the keynote address at the event. Pacific Blue Cross has a longstanding partnership with the Labour movement. Before the existence of universal health care, Pacific Blue Cross’ founding organizations administered the group plans that covered the medical and dental costs of union members. “We look forward to celebrating our relationship with labour and the people we collectively support, as part of our 75th year anniversary in 2015,” adds Grude. Pacific Blue Cross is British Columbia’s leading health insurance provider, delivering health, dental, life, disability and travel benefits to nearly 1.5 million British Columbians. This year, three deserving individuals will be honoured with a Community Service Award for their social activism.
