Our COVID-19 response: pivot, develop and adapt programs that show local love

Local Love Food Hubs are one example of how United Way British Columbia adapted quickly to meet community needs during the COVID crisis.

When COVID hit, there was a lot of fear, there was a lot of isolation. People lost their jobs; people lost their food security, and people lost their ability to connect with each other. For a community to be great, it needs to be great for everyone, so we worked quickly to pivot, develop and adapt our programsDuring the COVID-19 crisis, the United Way British Columbia:

  • Created the Community Builder Program
  • Established over 135 Local Love Food Hubs
  • Adapted kids and seniors programs
  • Supported youth mental wellness programs

Watch the following video to see how donors like you made this work possible. But it’s just a start. The need for action and support is greater now more than ever before – so we can continue our community workBecause you love your community, your neighbours will get the help they need.
