Labour Day of Caring: Volunteers take it outside
Earlier this month, Deltassist Family and Community Services Society received a mini-makeover, thanks to 12 energetic volunteers who dedicated their time and hard work during a The Vancouver Sun United Way Day of Caring. Deltassist is funded in part by United Way British Columbia. Representatives from CUPE, IBEW, BCGEU, PSAC, FPSE, Unifor, Delta Teachers Association and staff from the Labour Department of United Way British Columbia cut grass, weeded, painted and cleaned up debris from the last wind storm during this Labour Day of Caring. “Helping when there is need is what unions are all about, and we were so proud to do so recently at the Labour Day of Caring,” says Mervyn Van Steinburg, Director, CLC Labour Department at United Way British Columbia. The Labour Day of Caring is an annual event. If your union is interested in lending a caring hand by participating next year, please contact United Way British Columbia’s Labour Department at labourinfo@uwbc.ca.
