Coming together as a community, supporting each other, and advocating for change. These are some of the things on the minds of Clayton residents that participated in a casual table talk event that took place in Clayton on Tuesday, October 2nd.
The event, organized by the United Way British Columbia, was meant to bring local youth and adults together to discuss how their community is shaping up and what they can do to make it an even better place to live. Ideas ranged from the creation of ‘I ♥ Clayton’ t-shirts, to organizing community dinners, supporting local business, and addressing important issues through community advocacy.
These community conversations are part of United Way’s effort to work with the Clayton community to mobilize residents and address local issues. As the Clayton community grows, we want to empower residents with opportunities to make a difference in their community in ways that matter most to them.
Clayton Conversations will be continued on October 16th with a special ‘Build your community with Jim Diers‘ event. Jim is a world renowned community builder with a passion for getting people engaged with their communities and in the decisions that affect their lives. United Way intends to announce a special community grant program at the event that will benefit individuals and local community groups that have ideas for helping build community in Clayton Heights.
Please join us on October 16th.
