In 2014, 22 engineering firms in the Lower Mainland organized fundraising campaigns and raised over $650,000 behalf of United Way British Columbia. The engineering community tirelessly gives back where they live and work from monetary support to volunteer time. With leadership from Keith Stein (Vice-President Project Development, Teck Resources Limited), Duane Gingrich (President, Mining & Metals Americas, Amec Foster Wheeler) and Vasee Navaratnam (Vice President – Mining & Metals Operations Vancouver, Fluor), United Way British Columbia has launched a new Engineering Challenge for 2015 to further profile the impact the sector makes in the local community. With this contest we hope to see engineers from across the Lower Mainland release their kinetic energy and convert it to potential, but also remember this is a friendly contest, so let’s keep it civil. The challenge is simple – two trophies will be awarded to the firms in early 2016 following the fall United Way British Columbia campaign period. There are two ways to win:
Returning Campaigns: Highest percentage point increase in participation.
New Campaigns: Highest percentage point of participation.
