COVID-19 had a tremendous impact on our mental well-being. Almost two-thirds of 15 to 24-year-olds reported that COVID-19 has negatively impacted their mental health. 41% were likely to report symptoms consistent with moderate or severe anxiety.*
We know there is a crisis in our communities surrounding substance abuse. United Way British Columbia looks to partner with organizations and individuals in innovative ways to address community issues such as social isolation and substance abuse. “This is a community-driven initiative. It came from the residents here in the community, residents who wanted to care for each other. So really, for me – and for United Way – to be able to come alongside them and support the work they already wanted to do, but maybe needed a few more tools, it feels really, really satisfying.”
