On Tuesday June 18, 2019 United Way British Columbia held its 89th Annual General Meeting.
The gathering was a chance to reflect on the progress made since adopting our 2018-2023 Strategic Plan. In just one year, we’ve implemented many innovative approaches to live our new mission: serving the needs of our local communities, while igniting the desire in everyone to improve the place they call home.

A few highlights from the past year include:
- Clayton Heights residents showing their local love and launching Little Libraries to foster community connections;
- United Way sustaining gang-prevention programs in the Fraser Valley;
- The Government of Canada helping expand our Healthy Aging Initiative to serve isolated B.C. seniors;
- Local donors, volunteers and organizers tackling period poverty with United Way’s Period Promise campaign;
- The Social Purpose Institute at United Way fast-becoming an innovative hub where business leaders join the social purpose movement;
- United Way launching Local Love Funds in several neighbourhoods including Lower Lonsdale on the North Shore;
- And last but not least, the countless local lives made better by United Way programs for kids and seniors, deeply embedded in local neighbourhoods (like moms and tots in South Vancouver, kids in Surrey, isolated seniors in Burnaby and Mission).

Board of Directors
The AGM was also a time to recognize our Board of Directors. The Board is a group of dedicated leaders in their professions and in our community. They volunteer their time to help govern United Way with a mix of knowledge, insight and passion.
