Here are 11 free or low-cost things you can do in the Lower Mainland this Victoria Day weekend.

- Vancouver Comic Arts Festival Do you love comics and graphic novels?Then you’re going to love these wo days packed with comics programming, comic creators from home and abroad, and art lessons for kids. Roundhouse Community Centre, 181 Roundhouse Mews. May 20 and May 21, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Free.
- Historic Stewart Farm: Royal Victorian Party Here’s a royally fun idea: enjoy dancing and birthday cake. Future kings and queens are encouraged to dress in Victorian style clothing. Historic Stewart Farm, 13723 Crescent Rd., Surrey. May 21, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Free, 604-592-6956.
- Burnaby Central Railway: Miniature Train Ride If you like trains, then you will love taking a ride on this miniature railway featuring more than 3km of track, and steam, diesel and electric trains. - Illumination Summer Night Market The granddaddy of night markets with over 300 food and merchandise booths, and 20+ events or performing shows every week. It’s family-friendly with a featured kid’s play zone and VIP lounge. 12631 Vulcan Way, Richmond. Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, gates open at 7 p.m. $3.
- Shipyards Night Market For an older crowd, enjoy great food, art, music, entertainment and shopping. Enjoy a showcase of local items from artisans and makers, live music featuring talent from around B.C., a beer garden pouring local craft beer and 35 food trucks serving locally made food. East of the Seabus and the Lonsdale Quay at the foot of Lonsdale Avenue, North Vancouver. Friday nights, 5-10 p.m. Free.
- Victoria Day – Fort Langley On Sunday, May 22, watch for Fort Langley National Historic Site’s float in the 95th annual Fort Langley May Day Parade, which starts at 11 a.m., followed by a community fair. From 10 a.m.-5 p.m. explore the fort, visit the farm animals and watch historic demonstrations. 23433 Mavis Ave., Fort Langley. Free.
- Take a hike We’ve been waiting a long time for nice weather. Get out and take a hike! There is a wide variety of day-hiking trails by difficulty, distance and elevation near Vancouver, Whistler, Chilliwack and more.
