COVID-19 Emergency Community Support Fund

2nd Round Grant Call

Local Love starts when we help one another

Applications for these funding opportunities open October 5, 2020 until October 30 at 5 PM.

The COVID-19 outbreak is having a tremendous impact on many of our community members and continues leaving them more at-risk than ever to economic insecurity and hunger and increased mental health vulnerabilities due to social isolation. We’re here to help.

As part of Employment and Social Development Canada’s Emergency Community Support Fund, United Way British Columbia is supporting local community service organizations to provide rapid, innovative emergency community support to vulnerable community members. We call this local love.

Funds ranging from $10,000 to $35,000 are available to community agencies from Sea to Sky Corridor/Metro Vancouver/Fraser Valley and must be expended and activities starting December 1, 2020 and completed by March 31, 2021.

Applicants can receive funding from other sources, including ECSF grants from local community foundations or Red Cross. However, the same budget item cannot be covered by two separate ECSF grants for the same project. To help avoid confusion between different funders and to help distribute the funding available as widely as possible, we ask that:

  1. If you are unsure of whether to apply to United Way, your local community foundation or Red Cross, refer to this infographic for more information.
  2. If you are looking to obtain disease transmission training and/or PPE supplies for your staff and volunteers, then please apply to the Canadian Red Cross.

If your organization is providing services outside of the Sea to Sky Corridor/Metro Vancouver/Fraser Valley, and you are not currently supported by another United Way, please click here for more information.

Si vous avez des questions ou souhaitez présenter une demande de financement au Fonds d’urgence pour l’appui communautaire en français, veuillez communiquer avec nous à FUAC-demande@centraide.ca.

In communities across the Sea to Sky Corridor/Metro Vancouver/Fraser Valley, more and more people are at risk of hunger due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Many remain vulnerable because of mass lay-offs and underemployment.

We are offering funding opportunities to address the local food security needs of vulnerable populations including but not limited to: children and youth, Indigenous peoples, minority, homeless and low income communities, persons with disabilities, and seniors.
