United Way’s Hi Neighbour Initiative helps you meet them and works with you to create opportunities to make a difference in your community in ways that matter most to you.
It might be as simple as saying hello to someone on the street, as fun as hosting a block party or as exciting as building a new community garden – we call these acts of local love.

Making connections and creating places and spaces where people feel welcome and a part of a community makes people’s lives better. That’s because loneliness and isolation are increasing. You and Hi Neighbour are the antidote! When people are connected to their neighbours, they feel safer, less alone and healthier.
Clayton Heights residents told us they’d like to make their neighbourhood stronger and more inclusive by promoting a positive community identify, creating a sense of belonging and safety and finding the right people to make that happen – community builders, like you.
