When people care our community becomes stronger. The Scotiabank & United Way Community Spirit Awards honours organizations and individuals dedicated to making a difference.
United Way President’s Award of Distinction
United Way’s most prestigious award honours individuals or organizations for their extraordinary service and commitment to helping build stronger communities.
Presented to: Jim Belsheim, President and CEO of Neptune Bulk Terminals

Jim is an incredible ambassador for United Way and our community through his service as Board Vice-Chair and through his past role on our Campaign Cabinet. Jim is widely recognized in the North Shore community for having championed the importance of community engagement and has been instrumental in launching and growing the Waterfront United initiative, which brings organizations and unions on the waterfront together in support of our community. To date, this has generated $2.8 million dollars.
Engagement Award
The Engagement Award recognizes the workplace campaign team that best educated its employees throughout the organization about the positive impact United Way has on our community. This heightened knowledge helped maintain or increase dollars given directly to United Way.

GenNext Award
The GenNext Award recognizes the workplace campaign team that most engaged all generations in their fundraising campaign, especially GenNexters. These engagement strategies increased the number of donors or dollars given directly to United Way.
Presented to: British Columbia Automobile Association and MoveUP

Growth Award – Presented by 
The Growth Award recognizes the workplace campaign that had the highest percentage increase in the number of donors and dollars given directly to United Way. It also recognizes a workplace for maintaining or increasing their number of Leadership donors year over year.
Small organization recipient: Sierra Systems Group

Large organization recipient: City of Vancouver and CUPE Local 15, CUPE Local 391, CUPE 1004, IATSE Local 118 and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 213

Innovation Award – Presented by 
The Innovation Award recognizes the workplace campaign team that developed the most innovative and creative fundraising strategies, while maintaining or increasing dollars given directly to United Way.

Labour United Award – Presented by 
The Labour United Award is awarded to a union and its members that exemplify commitment to community and to furthering the values shared by United Way and the labour movement.
Presented to: International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 213

Teamwork Award – Presented by 
The Teamwork Award recognizes the workplace campaign that recruits the most diverse campaign team – one including management, union and others across various levels and locations of the organization. This team works together to develop strategies that increase donors or dollars given directly to United Way.
